the miu miu show was rather okay (boring?) in terms of clothes but – But the red/tan lace
dresses were phenomenal! and not because i love (as i think i’ve mentioned about a hundred
times) lace and drawing it. and the red lace dresses popped like nothing else in the collection.

there were bits and pieces of maiyet that i adored. (i had no clue about the global
community help that was the lines back story – which in finding out makes me love the
few pieces i loved even more!) but this lovely blue frock had the most splendid details
about the shoulders.  i did seem to forget the poor model a head though…

all i can say is that the people over at jcrew have simply rocked the simple but tailored
look wonderfully well for the past few shows and SS12 was no exception.  granted as a
nyc-er i have this knee jerk reaction to anything other than black and shades thereof
but maybe i should attempt to add some yellow since every designer seems to believe
we’ll be wrapping every part of our body in its bold shade this coming spring.

what was i just saying about yellow? never the less jason wu’s collection was a personal
fav. there is something very brilliant (no pun intended really!) about his collections.
and if the rumour that he has a target collection in the pipeline is true? he’ll have me
swooning once again!

10 crobsy derek lam. if there ever was a collection from a designer that literally looked
like it could be the uniform for downtown nyc – this would be it. that said, it’s a
brilliant collection in terms of clothing i would actually wear (along with every other
person on the LES.)

the above two images are from the Jean Charles De Castelbajac show. it had all my fashion
favourites – stripes, black embellishments and crosses. what more could i have asked for?!
it was a wonderfully dark, strange set of clothing offered compared to the usual brightness
that seemed Everywhere in the Paris shows.

oh louis louis. it was like easter exploded in paris. seriously. more pastel colours than
a badly done basket for spring. but that being said of my least favourite colour pallette,
the clothes themselves were rather interesting – especially the details of the laser cut out
flowers were fantastic. there is something about the whole 1950s-ness of it that ticks
some unknown box for me…

and then there was Collette Dinnigan. the lace!! (now that is my sweet spot when it comes to
drawing!!) the cuts, the clothes – did i mention the lace? and it wasn’t the usual designer
‘oh we’ll stick to one trend of lace’ no this was intricate and amazing in the wide breth of
types of lace that was used. brilliant and possible one of my favourite collections that i’ve
sketched this season.

that being said i should hopefully have more sketches up from fashion week by
friday. (need a goal!) till then enjoy! x

the above two images are from the alexander mcqueen show. sarah burton has yet to
disappoint me with each season she just wows me with the detailed work. lovely, lovely,
Lovely.  there were more than a few favourites for me.

paris seemed to switch between Patterns and Colours! and breezy, soft flowing waves
of fabric. chanel however only was slightly better than fall 10 in my humble opinion.
seriously, haven’t loved chanel really since fall 09. i did however love this leather
jacket chanel had on the runway. it looked like it would be the perfect jacket personally.

funny that i picked to draw one of the least colourful pieces from the hermes . still it was
a lovely collection – the flaming oranges, the blues, and the plums. clean and sophisicated lines.
and i always fall for hooded dresses.

new work for Amelia’s Magazine – for her article and review of Carlotta Actis Barone’s
fshion show. the headdresses were Amazing.  Amelia’s photos of the show were fantastic!
the show looked like a fushion between japan and ancient greece. did i mention that
there were headdresses? (i’m rather bias with a good headdress).
